Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Escort Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses to the Post and assist in their return to the unsaddling area.
- Control unruly horses or recapture loose horses during training and racing hours.
- Maintain constant radio contact with the Stewards from the Paddock until the start of each race.
- Inform Stewards of any claims or clear races.
- Ensure exercise personnel follow track safety rules and report non-compliance.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED; College experience preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in the racetrack industry.
- Experience working around Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses.
- Ability to care for one's own ponies at all times.
- Excellent verbal, mathematical, interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
- Problem-solving skills, decision-making abilities, and quick accuracy.
- Extensive equine knowledge and understanding of racing and industry requirements.
- Ability to obtain an Indiana Horse Racing Commission License.

Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, climbing steps, and sitting.
