Race Official, Finger Lakes Gaming
About the role
Delaware North Gaming is seeking a part-time Race Official to join our team at Finger Lakes Gaming in Farmington, New York. The position involves assisting, filling in, and training others in all aspects of racing jobs such as Placing Judge, Paddock Judge, Clerk of Scales, and Horse Identifier, in compliance with New York State Gaming Commission standards and Delaware North’s operational guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Take entries in the morning
- Read, proof, and correct programs as needed
- Maintain and update lasix information and eligibility requirements
- Aid in hustling horses for the race schedule
- Ensure adherence to New York State Gaming Commission regulations and procedures
- Utilize Incompass computer system and other relevant software
- Train current and new associates on proper procedures and regulations
- Handle guest complaints and defuse difficult situations professionally
- Perform tasks independently and adhere to GuestPath’s Universal Service Standards
Requirements
- High School diploma, GED, or TASC equivalent
- Licensed by the New York State Gaming Commission
- Experience with Thoroughbred horses and racetrack operations
- Minimum of five years experience with Thoroughbred horses
- Intermediate computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office
- Basic math skills (addition and subtraction)
- Ability to work independently and follow OSHA guidelines
- Manual dexterity for horse handling and computer input
- Standing, crouching, climbing, lifting up to 30 pounds, and exposure to varying weather conditions

Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, owned and operated by Delaware North, features more than 1,500 video gaming machines and brings the thrill of live thoroughbred racing from April to November and year-round simulcast wagering on thoroughbred and harness racing from across the country. Finger Lakes presents various dining options including a large buffet.
Physical requirements
- Manual dexterity sufficient to maneuver around horses
- Manual dexterity sufficient to input data into computer system
- Ability to stand, crouch, and climb to perform duties
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 pounds occasionally
- Visual acuity sufficient for knowing activity in surroundings
- Exposed to outdoor weather conditions in all seasons, including variable temperatures and wet and/or humid conditions
- Noisy environment
- Work around Thoroughbred Horses
More about you
Minimum High School diploma, GED, or TASC
Licensed by the New York State Gaming Commission
Experienced with Thoroughbred horses, racetrack experience required
Minimum of Five Years experience with Thoroughbred horses required
Racetrack experience required, minimum Two Year
Intermediate computer skills: Microsoft Office, email
Equibase preferred
Basic math skills: addition and subtraction
Ability to perform tasks independently
