About the Little Shop of Physics
At Little Shop of Physics, we focus the creativity of Colorado State University’s diverse community of learners to ignite curiosity and inspire a lifelong love for science through engaging, hands-on experiences for learners of all ages and backgrounds. Each year, LSOP connects with thousands of PreK-12 students while exposing them to STEM career paths and opportunities.
- All instruction is hands-on, learner-directed, and fits across ethnicities and genders.

About the role
Little Shop of Physics interns work as part of a team to create accessible, engaging, and fun science content and share it with PreK-12 students with the support of our professional staff members. Interns design and build hands-on science experiments and facilitate science learning at schools on Thursdays. Visit our internship page for more details, including photos and a video.
What we offer
Working with the Little Shop is a great chance to be creative, work with a wonderful group of people, be a role model to younger kids, and learn science concepts in depth. It’s an opportunity to learn and grow while giving back, and it serves as a great springboard for many other opportunities on campus and beyond.
Schedule
- Applicants must be free to travel and do school visits all day on Thursdays. Some schools are located a couple of hours’ drive from CSU and may require an overnight stay at a hotel.
- Applicants must be available to work regular hours in-person on Tuesday and all day Thursday during the semester (no classes or other commitments on Thursday).
- Students can work 10–20 hours per week on average.
Anticipated start date: fall 2026 semester (hiring as soon as possible).
Requirements
- This internship is available to current CSU students of all majors; you just need to like science and working with children.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is preferred but not required.
