About the role
The co-op will work under the supervision of a senior scientist, executing experiments at lab scale and evaluating results to support Syensqo’s current project portfolio as well as the development of new products and processes from a quality microbiology perspective. This position is based in the Microbiology group within the North American Research and Technology team at our Bristol, Pennsylvania location.
Responsibilities
- Work with a senior scientist on novel water-based formulation additives development for architectural and industrial coatings.
- Formulate paint and perform various testing for waterborne coatings using industry standard test method protocols.
- Support the technical development of new products in additives and polymers for waterborne systems.
- Assist with characterization of physical properties of new additives as needed.
- Analyze lab data acquired using approved methods, under minimal supervision, and efficiently communicate results internally.
- Record raw data and results into logbooks or computers (when applicable) and provide accurate data within an acceptable time frame.
- Maintain laboratory and associated equipment in a safe and clean condition.
- Periodically summarize results and discuss conclusions with the project team and the Techno R&I team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements
- In pursuit of a B.S. in Biological Science.
- Experience in microbiology is a plus.
- Experience with Excel is preferred.
- Some laboratory experience is preferred.
Pay
Competitive internship pay ($15.00 - $26.00 per hour).
