About the role
The R&D Manufacturing & Procurement Engineer (MPE) role is an interdisciplinary position which facilitates easy and accurate flow of information between R&D Design Engineering, Technical Program Managers, Procurement and Suppliers. This requires the candidate to work across a range of organizational and technical skills boundaries. The R&D MPE must be flexible and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment as a member of a team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct producibility evaluations
- Select suppliers based on engineering requirements, suppliers' capabilities, and suppliers' capacity
- Function as R&D Engineering's Supplier Liaison
- Navigate and be integral to the Procurement process through an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
- Facilitate the flow of information between R&D Design Engineering, Technical Program Managers, Procurement and Suppliers
- Work across a range of organizational and technical skills boundaries

Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in Procurement or Sourcing of Mil-DoD, Aerospace or Commercial Aviation mechanical components or assemblies.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Manufacturing Engineering and minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing and/or Sourcing of Mil-DoD, Aerospace or Commercial Aviation mechanical components or assemblies.
- Experience with traditional metallic manufacturing processes such as turning, milling, forging, extruding, plating, grinding, welding, non-destructive testing, etc.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes for aerospace materials for aerospace requirements.
- Knowledge/experience in Quality Assurance processes and disciplines, including inspection, identification, and disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Skills in using Enterprise Resource Planning software. SAP is preferred.
- Ability to perform basic measurements and simple inspection processes using standard measuring equipment.
- Ability to review CAD models to assist designers and vendors.
- Experience with MIL-STD documents and interpreting ASME Y14.5 drawings.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs.

- U.S. Citizenship or lawful permanent resident status.
- U.S. person as defined by ITAR.
