About the role
This position will support the R&D Team by driving innovation, improving on existing projects, and collaborating with R&D team members and leadership. This individual will work closely with other departments within the company and external partners to identify new technologies and deliver superior products that delight consumers while meeting safety and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support product development and commercialization for the launch of new products and line extensions including softgels, capsules, and powders.
- Ability to formulate claims and prepare technical briefs.
- Understand the technical properties of raw materials used in nutraceutical formulations, including appropriate use of materials (Active Principal Ingredient and Excipient), application of correct formulation parameters, physical properties of materials, and function within a formulation.
- Formula development and optimization of all nutraceutical products.
- Test and recommend alternative ingredients and/or processes that would improve product quality and/or process efficiency.
- Keep up to date on new ingredients and process technologies and be able to write specifications for new ingredients.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, identify potential issues, and redirect the team as needed.
- Evaluate data from testing to cross-functional teams; identify and communicate issues/risks.
- Follow through on administrative tasks that support project objectives and departmental objectives.
- Coordinate/communicate with the team to ensure production start-up.
- Work closely with management in setting product direction, establishing priorities, and meeting goals.
- Provide support in production for troubleshooting in validation runs/production runs.
Qualifications
- Subject-related educational qualification no less than a bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy or the like.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge in small or large molecule API Manufacturing.
- Solid understanding of Word and Excel.
- Able to communicate clearly.
- Able to manage time.
- Self-motivated and able to stay on task.
- Flexible, with the ability to meet changing demands and schedules.
- Work under pressure when needed to meet tight deadlines.
- Maintain product development timelines and track current progress.
- Work with sales, customer service, and quality assurance to provide analysis and technical assistance that is requested.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Dependable and reliable.
- Experience developing two-piece hard shell capsule formulas.
- Experience developing flavor systems for powder applications.
- Experience developing softgel formulas.
