This position is required to work at headquarters in South Jordan, UT, Monday - Friday.
About the role
Ultradent, a global name in oral health, is seeking a Research Scientist to join our R&D team. The Scientist will work with an interdisciplinary team that develops new dental materials and devices. This position requires a drive to innovate and explore new materials in the dental industry. Experience with photo/radical induced polymerization techniques, medical device research, microbiology/tissue management techniques, and/or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop and test scientific hypotheses independently or with minimal guidance to achieve desired product performance.
- Apply extensive knowledge and familiarity with fundamental material science themes such as structure-property-processing-composition relationships.
- Work with polymeric and/or photo-cured systems.
- Make and characterize materials in a chemical laboratory using common laboratory equipment such as scales, fume hoods, and mixing equipment.
- Take ownership of projects and address varied stakeholder needs.
- Exhibit curiosity and contribute new knowledge and ideas to the R&D department.
- Communicate data effectively, e.g., with Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Perform thorough data collection and documentation of research activities through ELN and LIMS systems.
- Perform various biological laboratory techniques and procedures, such as cell culture or other molecular biology techniques.
- Use advanced instruments and technologies to analyze biological samples.
- Contribute to the development of new biotechnological products or improvements to existing ones.
- Evaluate new biological technologies in existing medical devices.
Requirements
- B.S. in a related field (polymer, composites, chemistry, or materials science) with 2+ years of research experience preferred.
- M.S. or PhD in a related field (polymer, composites, chemistry, or materials science).
- Motivated to work with a multifunctional team.
- Ability to complete work duties or assignments in a timely manner.
- Ability to communicate results orally, in writing, or in presentations.
- Experience building mechanical or electrical devices.
