This is not a traditional production role. You’ll be at the front end of innovation, operating extrusion equipment, solving technical challenges, developing new processes, and helping bring advanced medical products to market.

Responsibilities

  • Produce prototype tubing and components for new product development programs.
  • Select tooling, materials, and process parameters to achieve product requirements.
  • Partner closely with R&D engineers to conduct trials, process investigations, and technology development.
  • Analyze results, recommend improvements, and support process scale-up and commercialization.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor for extrusion best practices.

Requirements

  • Medical tubing extrusion
  • Extrusion startup, shutdown, and troubleshooting
  • Tooling selection and process optimization
  • Prototype manufacturing and process development
  • Thermoplastic materials and extrusion fundamentals
  • Dimensional inspection and metrology
  • Data collection, root cause analysis, and problem solving
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Continuous improvement and technical leadership

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on extrusion experience, preferably in medical devices or another regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise independently running extrusion equipment, including setup, startup, troubleshooting, process adjustment, and shutdown.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to select and adjust tooling to meet product requirements.
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify issues, recommend practical solutions, and keep development work moving.
  • Interest in building, testing, learning, and developing new technologies in a collaborative R&D environment.

Skills

Ideal candidate is a self-starter who can walk up to an extruder, select the right tooling, make good product, troubleshoot issues, and help engineers move new products from concept to commercialization.
