  • Conduct analyses of complex problems using first‑principles methods.
  • Contribute to complex engineering projects while working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Produce technical documentation for assigned projects.
  • Perform hands‑on work in a laboratory setting with a highly multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, computer engineers, and technicians to design, build, and test microelectronics solutions and their physical support systems.
  • Execute mechanical and thermal design and analysis, prototype and low‑rate production builds, and failure analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2 (out of 4.0) listed on the résumé.
  • 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a laboratory, R&D, test, prototyping, or experimental environment (a Master’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering can substitute for the experience).
  • Self‑motivated and able to work well within a research and development team.
  • Hands‑on prototyping experience through events/organizations such as design/build/fly, Formula SAE, CubeSat, or similar.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, NX, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack‑ups, and design for manufacturing.
  • Experience in heat‑transfer mechanics and thermal systems, preferably in electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with standard electrical laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, power supplies).
  • Ability to create engineering drawings, CAD models, bills of materials (BOMs), and fabrication documentation.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Machine‑shop or hands‑on fabrication experience (lathes, mills, 3D printers, etc.).
  • Experience with multiphysics analysis tools such as COMSOL or PLECS.
  • Background in high‑voltage engineering, circuit‑card mechanical assemblies, pulsed power, prime power, power electronics, RF, and/or antenna development.
  • Experience integrating PCBs, connectors, cabling, thermal components, and mechanical structures.
  • Familiarity with VPX, chassis, card guides, cold plates, heat spreaders, or conduction‑cooled electronics.
