Key Responsibilities

Personnel Manager for a team of engineers and scientists whose charter is to conceptualize and execute PIC designs and development for quantum computing systems.

Collaborate with technical staff on developing photonic roadmaps, technology development, and advanced R&D activities.

Guide and coordinate optical R&D efforts from concept through design validations for multi-year photonic projects.

Plan and nurture career development of direct-reporting engineers/scientists through mentoring, coaching, and training.

Implement best practices and behaviors in an R&D environment to ensure quality and requirements are met.

Identify key technologies, innovations, infrastructure, projects and resources needed to improve photonic design and development capabilities to meet business needs.

Lead efforts recruiting and retaining high performing technical PIC design staff.

Clearly and effectively communicate to positively impact the team, actively listen, and strengthen communications between technical and management teams.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum
  • Minimum 8 year’s of industry experience developing and designing PIC solutions
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing technical teams
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status

WE VALUE

  • Ph.D. or Masters in Photonics, Optics, or Applied Physics
  • Involvement in photonics design projects from concept to production
  • Experience with photonic simulation tools (Lumerical, Tidy3D, RSoft, or similar guided mode and FDTD solvers)
  • Experience with photonic layout tools (Klayout, GDSFactory, or similar)
  • 4+ years’ experience with the design of photonic waveguide, splitters, couplers, gratings, and/or active photonic components
  • 4+ years’ experience leading integrated photonic designs from requirements, design, layout, fabrication, and test
  • Experience managing teams across multiple geographic locations
  • Experience with photonic integrated circuit fabrication and testing processes and tools
  • Experience with photonic materials and their behaviors and metrology
  • Experience developing PIC design tools and infrastructure to improve development times and quality
  • Experience executing engineering trade studies and communicating with other disciplines to provide roadmaps and solutions
  • Experience working with wavelengths from UV to Infrared

Compensation & Benefits

Incentive Eligible – Range posted is inclusive of bonus target

The pay range for this role is $180,000 – $225,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
