R&D Manager

This position is staffed in Coachella, at Armtec’s world-class, sole-source production facility for felted fiber nitrocellulose combustible cartridge cases for medium and large caliber military ammunition; and pyrophoric payloads for training grenades.
About the Role
The R&D Manager is responsible for managing a strategic growth program for concept definition, qualification, and bringing into production new EDT products for defense and related applications.
Responsibilities
- Work with Armtec Defense Technologies and customer staff to identify and define specific products suited to Armtec Defense Technologies operations and capabilities.
- Coordinate the activities of Armtec Defense Technologies functional groups to deliver a qualified product in a timely manner and within a carefully controlled budget/schedule.
- Prepare and manage capital expense requisitions to secure the necessary funding for facility and equipment.
- Ensure all activities planned for the efficient execution of the program are performed to give a high-quality product, on time, and to cost.
- Develop detailed work breakdown structures associated with the activities needed for achieving the stated primary goal.
- Identify program risks, and develop a risk-mitigation strategy for the program.
- Develop a product launch, marketing, and distribution campaign.
- Liaise with customers and partners to create an efficient program plan and statement of work meeting Armtec Defense Technologies financial requirements.
- Effectively utilize internal and external resources for program execution.
- Provide mentoring of potential new program management staff and personnel.
- Provide routine, accurate reports to senior management as required on program status, cost, schedule, risks, etc. – written and/or verbal reports as necessary.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
- Understand and live by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies.
Requirements
- Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills.
- Five (5) plus years working on defense programs.
- Advanced degrees.
- Previous DOD experience or a basic understanding of Defense contracting.
- ISO 9000 procedures.
- Some military/college or external training in Project or Program Management.
- Must be dependable, responsible, and accurate and have the ability to deal with people effectively.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the U.S. Government.

Pay
Salary Range: $110,387 - $153,000/Annual
