About the Role

This is an on-site position. The R&D Laboratory Technician is responsible for testing, documenting, and reporting experiments on laboratory test rigs and prototype boilers and combustion systems. The role requires strong initiative in troubleshooting and problem-solving, working collaboratively to design, test, and release new products. The technician also supports cross-departmental testing for quality, service, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory build-up, experimentation, and documentation of results and procedures.
• Build test rigs, wire units, and install instrumentation.
• Perform tests with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Document test results and communicate findings clearly to responsible parties.
• Demonstrate knowledge of lab equipment and products.
• Troubleshoot a wide variety of issues (e.g., combustion, electrical, and controls).
• Collaborate with other lab users as an excellent teammate.
• Participate in lab maintenance tasks, including equipment updates, preventive maintenance (PM), and 5S activities.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in a technical area or 5 years of experience in the heating or similar industry.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft products for organizing and reporting test results.
• Basic understanding of electrical and controls systems.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify system issues proactively.
• Diligence in completing challenging tasks, including final assembly of lab test rigs.
• Ability to use a wide variety of hand tools and test equipment.
• Ability to work independently and safely in a boiler development lab.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
