Our client is a well-established, large organization with a strong presence in the confectionery and pet care industry, committed to delivering high-quality products and maintaining excellence in manufacturing and customer satisfaction. This role focuses on pet care kibbles and treats.

About the role

Support laboratory operations, ensuring high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include processing the decontamination of biohazardous waste, media production, sample reception, and sample preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing and analysis to support research and development projects.
  • Ensure compliance with established protocols and quality standards during testing procedures.
  • Document and report test results accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist in the preparation of samples and reagents for analysis.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Support additional tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory.

Requirements

  • BS in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Strong background in laboratory analysis and a passion for the food and beverage or pet care industries.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and the ability to follow detailed protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and document results clearly.
  • Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring safety in the workplace.
  • Adaptability and a proactive attitude to handle a dynamic work environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of ISO 17025.
  • Knowledge of cross-contamination management/mitigation in laboratories.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique.
  • Experience with spreadsheets (Excel), Word, ELN, and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Practical laboratory skills and ability to troubleshoot/maintain complex laboratory instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of biological risk control plans, laboratory safety, and chemical management.

Pay

$20 per hour.

Schedule

40-hour week, working Tuesday–Saturday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Role is a 3-month contract with the possibility of extension or conversion to full-time.
