R&D Laboratory Analyst
Our client is a well-established, large organization with a strong presence in the confectionery and pet care industry, committed to delivering high-quality products and maintaining excellence in manufacturing and customer satisfaction. This role focuses on pet care kibbles and treats.
About the role
Support laboratory operations, ensuring high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include processing the decontamination of biohazardous waste, media production, sample reception, and sample preparation.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing and analysis to support research and development projects.
- Ensure compliance with established protocols and quality standards during testing procedures.
- Document and report test results accurately and promptly.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in the preparation of samples and reagents for analysis.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Support additional tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory.
Requirements
- BS in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field.
- Strong background in laboratory analysis and a passion for the food and beverage or pet care industries.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and the ability to follow detailed protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and document results clearly.
- Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring safety in the workplace.
- Adaptability and a proactive attitude to handle a dynamic work environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of ISO 17025.
- Knowledge of cross-contamination management/mitigation in laboratories.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique.
- Experience with spreadsheets (Excel), Word, ELN, and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Practical laboratory skills and ability to troubleshoot/maintain complex laboratory instrumentation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of biological risk control plans, laboratory safety, and chemical management.

Pay
$20 per hour.
Schedule
40-hour week, working Tuesday–Saturday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Role is a 3-month contract with the possibility of extension or conversion to full-time.
