About the role
The Engineering Intern will gain hands-on experience in laboratory testing, product development, process improvement, and engineering projects within a dynamic aerospace manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with laboratory testing, data collection, and analysis.
- Support R&D projects involving materials, manufacturing processes, and product development.
- Prepare test specimens, conduct experiments, and document results.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, reports, and test documentation.
- Aid in developing and improving laboratory procedures and work instructions.
- Support root cause investigations and process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and operations personnel to achieve project objectives.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety procedures and quality standards.
- Present findings and recommendations to engineering team members as needed.
Qualifications
- Currently working toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong people skills and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to achieve common goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred
- Prior laboratory, manufacturing, or engineering project experience through coursework, internships, or research.
- Familiarity with data analysis and technical report writing.
- Exposure to aerospace, manufacturing, materials testing, or quality systems.
- Experience with CAD software and engineering drawings is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
