The Opportunity

The R&D Formulation Internship for the summer of 2027 offers college juniors and seniors a chance to work closely with Pet Food Scientists and members of the formulation and operations teams, gaining hands‑on experience in the pet food industry.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities

• Gain comprehensive knowledge of the entire production cycle for canned pet food and pet treat products.
• Support the R&D and formulation team with day‑to‑day responsibilities, including product research, development, and formulation.
• Complete a unique, business‑driven project.
• Learn innovation and creativity, goal setting and KPI measurement, analytical and critical thinking, problem solving, oral and written communication, teamwork, and leadership.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

• At least a Junior in college pursuing a degree in Animal Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
• Ability to dedicate 10‑12 weeks to the internship program for the summer of 2027.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere and be a great co‑worker.
• Ability to work on‑site at the Delano, MN facility for the summer.

Compensation

The starting hourly rate of pay is $18.84. Compensation will be a percentage of industry standards based on typical full‑time starting salaries and will depend on the intern’s year in school and timeline to graduation. Exceptional performers may be considered for full‑time employment upon graduation.

Schedule

The internship runs for 10‑12 weeks during the summer of 2027 and requires on‑site work at the Delano, MN facility.
