R&D Food Scientist

About the role

This role supports new product development initiatives, formulation optimization, ingredient evaluation, and commercialization efforts for a growing product portfolio. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in food science, product development, and scale-up activities within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize food formulations, including bakery ingredients, icings, glazes, piping gels, bakery mixes, food colorings, or related products
• Conduct ingredient research, competitive product evaluations, and trend analysis
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support product launches and customer needs

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related scientific discipline
• 2-5+ years of experience in food product development, formulation, or R&D within a food manufacturing environment
• Experience supporting product scale-up activities from laboratory development through commercial production
• Working knowledge of food chemistry, ingredient functionality, and food safety regulations, including FDA and CFR Title 21 requirements
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and optimizing food formulations, including bakery ingredients, icings, glazes, piping gels, bakery mixes, food colorings, or related products
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and commercialization activities within the food industry
• Experience partnering with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support product launches and customer needs

Pay

$85,000 - $95,000 annually
