Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and innovative solutions when engineering challenges arise
  • Assemble electro-mechanical systems and processes per engineering documentation and specifications
  • Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate device and system performance under simulated conditions
  • Diagnose, debug, test, upgrade, maintain, and repair devices, instrumentation, and test systems
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to identify and resolve design and manufacturing issues
  • Partner with vendors and assembly houses to troubleshoot manufacturing concerns
  • Write clear, detailed test reports documenting system performance, malfunctions, and design deviations
  • Record, analyze, and interpret test data to support design problem-solving
  • Build, calibrate, maintain, and repair product, prototyping, and test equipment
  • Support R&D lab operations, including component ordering, stock management, and calibration tracking
  • Perform light assembly work in pilot production as needed
  • Support Quality Assurance with incoming acceptance activities
  • Comply with corporate environmental health and safety programs, including bloodborne pathogens and hazard communication protocols
  • Confidently operate test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, Instron testers, micrometers, and calipers

Requirements

  • AA/AS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of relevant technician experience (labs, internships, etc.)
  • Familiarity with engineering software platforms such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, LabVIEW, or MATLAB preferred
  • Basic knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies and hands-on technical aptitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of basic statistics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid technical writing ability
  • Collaborative, organized, and dependable with strong time management

Working Conditions

Engineering laboratory and office environment, including limited handling of clinically soiled product.

Reports to the R&D Manager or designee. Requires effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Well-organized self-starter comfortable working in a cross-functional environment. Able to take direction while managing own workload independently.
