About the role

The Engineering Technician I supports entry-level technical activities in engineering, testing, manufacturing, and product development. This foundational role contributes to organizational objectives through assistance with equipment setup, product testing, documentation, and assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setup, operation, and maintenance of testing equipment and laboratory systems.
  • Support assembly of HVAC components, prototypes, and test fixtures according to established procedures and instructions.
  • Record test data accurately and maintain technical documentation and records.
  • Aid engineering and technical staff with product testing, inspections, and validation activities.
  • Perform routine measurements, inspections, and evaluations using basic testing and measurement equipment.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts by gathering data and assisting with problem identification.
  • Follow engineering procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards during all activities.
  • Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with technical coursework, certification, or training in HVAC, electronics, manufacturing technology, mechanical systems, or a related field; 0+ years of experience in a technical, manufacturing, or engineering support role.
  • Preferred: Technical or vocational education in a related field, exposure to HVAC systems, manufacturing operations, or engineering laboratories.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, and verbal directions.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, measurement devices, and basic testing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, processes, and equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Follow technical instructions and perform routine tasks accurately.
  • Show strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Identify and communicate basic issues or discrepancies.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Handle tools, equipment, and small components with manual dexterity.
  • Inspect parts, assemblies, and test results with visual acuity.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Work safely around machinery, equipment, and testing systems.

Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to production equipment, HVAC systems, and testing equipment.
  • Frequent interaction with engineers, technicians, and production personnel.
  • Exposure to noise, temperature variations, dust, and industrial conditions.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
