New Pig Corporation, a leader in providing Environmental and Safety solutions for businesses worldwide, is seeking an R&D Product Engineer to join our Product Development Team. This role focuses on solving customer problems by researching technical options, designing new products, and supporting the commercialization and manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
- Brainstorm potential solutions for customer problems based on insights
- Collaborate with team members on suggested technical approaches for projects
- Responsible for form, fit, and function of design and cost breakdowns
- Design and draft products and parts using 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Design, build, and test prototypes
- Develop test methods to qualify products for customer use
- Source, qualify, select, and manage relationships with material, tooling, and other supply and service providers
- Travel to supplier locations for development trials and production qualifications
- Provide manufacturing/production support for new products and continuous improvement of existing products
- Stay up to date on manufacturing techniques for metals, plastics, non-wovens, laminations, formulating, and structural packaging
- Answer technical questions from Customer Service, Technical Product Support, Marketing, Manufacturing, supply partners, and customers
- Document key project decisions and design changes
- Support Marketing teams with product performance testing, marketing claims, product packaging, and literature (e.g., assembly instructions, usage guides)
- Adhere to New Pig’s Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards
Requirements
- BS in Engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
- Plastic part design experience; knowledge of mold flow, draft, and resins is a plus
- Solid experience and competence with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Project management experience
- Effective communication skills and superior attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with supplier management and negotiation
- Ability to distill and capture learnings from multiple viewpoints (e.g., customer visits, market data, competitive offerings, supplier operations)
- Background in skilled trades, mechanics, or equipment repair is a plus

Pay
Up to $120,000 per year (based on relevant experience; exact pay discussed during a personal phone call with qualified candidates).
