About the role
The R&D Engineer II position is part of the Wound Management R&D Team at Medtronic. This role focuses on the development of new wound closure products to meet customer needs and expand the company's wound closure product line.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, analyzes, troubleshoots, and provides technical skills during research and/or product development.
- Designs studies to investigate root cause or identify process parameters.
- Supports product development activities.
- Provides feedback on machine design and prototypes.
- Designs fixturing for manufacturing equipment or testing.
- Creates prototype test samples.
- Supports the voice of customer and pre-clinical studies.
- Prepares and tracks test samples.
- Aids in Design of Experiments (DOE) planning and execution.
- Performs statistical analysis and presents results.
- Composes engineering reports.
- Researches technical and procedural topics and reports findings to groups.
Requirements
- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required with 2+ years of experience or Advanced Degree with 0+ years of experience.
- Nice to Have: Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Practical experience in suture and/or needle test methods, equipment and/or test fixture design, polymer development and manufacturing, fiber extrusion, textile manufacturing, material characterization, development and manufacturing of combination products.
- Experience in the medical device industry.
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quality technical work within project schedules and timelines.
- Team-oriented, able to work well on common deliverables with diverse cross-functional teams, and interact professionally with all organizational levels.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills to partner on varying levels ranging from cross-functional to global multi-site and multi-business unit.

- Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the job, including independently moving about the workplace and interacting with a computer and communicating with peers and co-workers.

Pay
$88,800.00 - $133,200.00 USD
