About the Role
This is a 12+ month contract position located in Reston, VA, with a weekly schedule of 40 hours (Monday through Friday). The pay rate ranges from $20 to $30 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Support administration, troubleshooting, configuration, installation, deployment, maintenance, and upgrades for on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with architects, tech leads, and infrastructure teams to plan, implement, and maintain DevOps processes.
- Interact with development teams to ensure up-to-date runbook documentation, smoke test documentation, and deployment plans.
- Support deployments, rollbacks, application verification, smoke tests, and production tasks.
- Coordinate with various teams and support groups to resolve issues with software, applications, operating systems (Linux/Windows), and cloud services.
- Review artifacts for related projects within CI/CM application repositories.
- Support testing, evaluation, installation, and configuration of new application releases using operational support plans, secure configuration documents, best practice white papers, and other tools to identify potential issues before deployments (DevOps support).
- Support production maintenance activities, including developing automated scripts and scheduled tasks, server maintenance, application/system monitoring, software/security updates and patching, and archiving/disposition of system logs and/or data records.
- Maintain various DevOps-related tools and scripts across multiple environments (dev, test, pre-prod, prod) on on-premises and cloud infrastructure (Azure).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with enterprise cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), Python, and Azure PowerShell scripting.
- Strong background in Azure monitoring, alerting, and diagnostics tools.
- Strong knowledge of Visual Studio Team Services and TFS.
- Experience with containerization tools including Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Experience with systems and network performance tuning, capacity planning, backup and recovery, system architecture and designs, as well as high availability concepts.
- Experience working with development teams to develop and maintain configuration baselines supporting complex systems.
- Experience with NoSQL databases.
- Five or more years of DevOps/Configuration Management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in cloud technologies (Azure/AWS) is a plus.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, SOX, ISO, and PCI compliance standards.
Pay
$20–$30 per hour.
Schedule
40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
