R&D Engineer (3 Days Minimum Onsite; Remainder Of Week Remote)

Location: Tempe, AZ • Duration: 6+ month contract • 40 hours/week, 1st shift • Pay rate: $20–30/hr (W2) • US citizens or Green-Card holders only

About the role

Provide solid technical skill and engineering support for design and development activities for new medical-device products. Participate in executing technical and/or cross-functional project work while contributing to a culture of innovation by proactively generating novel concepts for new products and enhancements to current product performance.

Three days minimum onsite; remainder of the week remote as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Understand customer needs and translate them into engineering requirements for specific product, packaging, and process specifications.
• Engineer robust and manufacturable products through strong understanding and application of engineering fundamentals.
• Manage component/assembly drawing reviews and communicate needs to suppliers and manufacturing sites.
• Develop and execute test methods that specify measurement equipment, test set-up, measurement systems analysis, and data analysis.
• Write detailed technical reports based on analysis and testing for product design activities.
• Ensure compliance with client quality policies, procedures, and practices, as well as all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

• BS degree in engineering (Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering preferred).
• 0–2 years of engineering experience, preferably in medical devices.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize statistical tools and computer analysis.
• Proven knowledge of component fabrication processes and associated engineering drawing dimensioning & tolerancing schemes.
