Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Critically analyze customer quote requests; develop quotations for customers based on interpretation of blueprints defining manufacturing processes and product cost analysis.
- Determine manufacturability of the part and sequence of operations that need to be quoted.
- Partner with Customer Service, Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing and Customers to obtain information needed for developing costs and corresponding quotes.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Production Manager to develop setup and cycle times, material selection, and process development for components and assemblies to be quoted.
- Develop quotes that meet company expectations for profitability.
- Identify gage and fixture requirements.
- Aid Manufacturing Engineers with developing processes and process improvements.
- Create routings in ERP specifying processes, setup, production times; adding notes to the router clearly identifying process per operation.
- Track and report quoting metrics including how many quotes result in customer orders.
- Customer follow up on quotes that did not result in orders.
- Interact with internal and external customers as necessary.
- Develop manufacturing processes at the quoting level in the ERP system.
- Work with supplies to obtain quotes and delivery information for outside processing.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- 3 years of quoting experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience in a precision machine shop.
- Experience and knowledge of secondary operation processes including assembly, molding, heat treat, passivation, polishing and welding.
- Experience and knowledge of CNC programming (lathes & mills), setup and operation of CNC equipment.
- Understand the capabilities of CNC lathes, 5 axis mills, Swiss machines and robotic equipment.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing environment preferred.
- Thorough understanding of raw materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control practices.
- Knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, processes and capabilities.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of blueprints and GD&T; thoroughly understand GD&T callouts and how to interpret them.
- Knowledge of inspection methods and measuring tools and equipment.
- Proficient in machine shop math.
- Experience in ISO/FDA environment preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in multi-discipline, cross cultural environment and levels of organization.
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as, autonomously.
- Capable of handling stressful situations and manage conflict.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions.
- Maintain sense of urgency and ability to prioritize work.
- Computer literate in various software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office).
- ERP system experience required, Epicor software preferred.
