About the role
The Town of Queen Creek is seeking a Project Manager to oversee Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) within the Planning, Community, and Economic Development Department. This position is responsible for managing multiple projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage capital improvement projects, including design, bidding, construction, and closeout phases.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and scopes of work.
- Coordinate with internal departments, external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including ADA, environmental, and safety standards.
- Prepare and present project status reports to management, Town Council, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate public outreach and communication efforts related to projects.
- Manage project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and closeout materials.
- Perform field inspections to ensure construction quality and adherence to plans and specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in project management, preferably in a municipal or public sector environment.
- Experience managing capital improvement projects, including design and construction phases.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with municipal infrastructure projects, such as roads, utilities, parks, and facilities.
- Familiarity with Arizona procurement laws and municipal budgeting processes.
