About the role

The CIP Inspector performs professional field inspection work to ensure compliance with Town construction standards, codes, and specifications for Capital Improvement Projects (CIP). This position reports to the Engineering Inspector Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction projects for compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to safety standards and project timelines.
• Review and approve construction materials, methods, and workmanship.
• Document and report inspection findings, including deficiencies and corrective actions required.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and project progress.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve construction-related issues.
• Perform field measurements and calculations to verify compliance with project specifications.
• Assist in the preparation of punch lists and final acceptance documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and support to contractors and other inspectors as needed.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction inspection, civil engineering, or a related field.
• Certification as a Construction Inspector (e.g., ICC, NICET, or ACI) is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques related to public infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal construction codes and standards.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and blueprints.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors, engineers, and the public.
• Proficient in using inspection tools, software, and technology (e.g., GPS, survey equipment, Microsoft Office).
• Valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites within the Town.
• Physical ability to perform field inspections, including walking on uneven terrain, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
