Quarry Maintenance Mechanic (2nd Shift- 2:00pm Start Time)

About the role

This role requires completing numerous tasks involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of production and production-related equipment. It also involves inspecting and determining the nature of difficulties and malfunctioning, restoring equipment to good operating order, evaluating equipment failures, and performing daily rounds.

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled maintenance on rock quarry equipment such as but not limited to the rock crusher, conveyor belts, electrical panels and similar equipment.
  • Inspects and determines the nature of difficulties and malfunctioning and takes necessary action to restore equipment to good operating order.
  • Evaluate equipment failures for root cause, communicate findings, make suggestions for equipment improvements, and be able to install modifications as directed.
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules and procedures, recording all pertinent information.
  • Aid with maintenance and repairs on compressors, generators, fans and motors, pumps, gearboxes mixers, blowers, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and maintenance equipment.
  • Lubricate, clean and service equipment.
  • Keep work area clean and in a safe condition.
  • Obtain, store, record, safeguard and properly use equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Complete work assignments in the allotted time frame.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic at a similar position or a position with transferable skills to quarry equipment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Education from a technical school or equivalent in a related field preferred (welding, electrical, maintenance etc.).
  • Welding experience required, particularly in mig, stick, and overhead.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of the common reasons for mechanical failure and the steps necessary to correct malfunctions on different types of motors/machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, using diagram schematics and parts manuals.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including up to 12-hour+ shifts based on workload.

  • Physical Demands: Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Stand for long periods of time. Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl. Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them. Make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls. Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects. Make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists. Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects. Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired. Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out. Move two or more limbs together (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while remaining in place. Focus on one source of sound and ignore others. Lift 50 pounds regularly.

Pay Range: $26.22 - $46.00 (based on previous or relevant quarry/maintenance mechanic experience).
