Quantum Engineer II, Device Test & Measurement
About the role
D-Wave is seeking a talented and self-motivated Quantum Engineer II to join our Advance Device Development group. In this role, you will develop and execute measurements for advanced quantum device characterization, analyze device performance data, and support the validation of new device concepts. You will improve experimental workflows, contribute to experiment automation and data-analysis capabilities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide feedback into device-development cycles.
What You'll Do
- Design and perform microwave, electrical, and cryogenic measurements
- Maintain and optimize cryogenic and measurement systems, including associated workflows, to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency
- Develop and execute experiments for device characterization and validation
- Perform data analysis to identify device performance characteristics and key contributing factors
- Develop and maintain experiment automation and data-analysis pipelines
- Identify procedure or tool issues and help implement practical improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support device evaluation and provide experimental feedback into development cycles
- Maintain well-organized documentation of methods, results, and datasets
About You
- M.Sc. and/or 2 years of relevant experience; or PhD in physics, electrical engineering, or related field
- Experience with superconducting quantum devices, device physics, and measurement techniques
- Experience in DC/RF measurements and cryogenic systems
- Proficiency in scientific programming for instrument control, data acquisition, analysis, and automation
- Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot technical issues, and identify practical solutions
- Strong written and verbal scientific communication skills
- Strong teamwork skills in interdisciplinary physics and engineering environments

Pay
The base pay range for this role is $86,800 – 130,300 USD (New Haven).
