About the role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in supporting the commercial and financial management of our projects. You will work closely with clients, end users, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are commercially controlled and contractual obligations are effectively managed.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, commercially aware, and confident in managing multiple priorities. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential, together with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.

Responsibilities

  • Attend pre-start meetings when required and review pre-start meeting minutes.
  • Review, negotiate, and agree subcontract orders and associated documentation.
  • Review and negotiate collateral warranties.
  • Manage commercial correspondence between Sheridan Lifts, clients, and end users.
  • Prepare and issue applications for payment.
  • Reconcile client payment notices with the Accounts department.
  • Support the forecasting, allocation, and recovery of payments.
  • Review, value, and negotiate variations and commercial changes.
  • Assist with the preparation and negotiation of final accounts.
  • Support the resolution of commercial disputes and contra charges.
  • Attend internal meetings with Design and Project teams.
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to Sales, Estimating, and Project teams.
  • Advise on commercial risks, opportunities, and potential cost exposure.
  • Prepare and issue Early Warning Notices and Extensions of Time where required.
  • Prepare monthly cost/value reconciliations and financial reports.
  • Identify commercial and contractual risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to monitor and control project costs.
  • Provide contractual and financial advice throughout project delivery.
  • Ensure best commercial practice is maintained while minimising risk to the business.
  • Review and develop commercial processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and the quality of business information.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor.
  • A relevant degree, equivalent qualification, or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience working across multiple projects and managing competing priorities.
  • Experience working with a range of contract types, including JCT, NEC, and bespoke contracts.
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to administration.
  • The ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a team.
  • The ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to adapt to new systems and processes.
  • Good organisational and administration skills.
  • Experience working within a subcontract environment is preferable.
