Quality Weld Specialist - CWI
About the role
The Quality Weld Specialist is a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) responsible for ensuring all fabricated and welded products meet internal quality standards and customer requirements. This role supports production through inspection, documentation, process improvement, and weld quality leadership, while driving consistent, repeatable welding processes across the shop.
Responsibilities
- Inspect weldments to ensure compliance with AWS standards and customer specifications
- Review, generate, and maintain weld procedures, welder certifications, and quality documentation
- Perform and oversee weld quality inspections and testing as required
- Investigate quality issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
- Develop and enforce weld-related SOPs and best practices
- Support production, engineering, and training efforts to improve weld quality and consistency
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required
- 5+ years of experience in welding, weld quality, or manufacturing quality environments
- Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1 and AWS D14.3 standards
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical specifications
- Technical degree in welding or engineering preferred but not required
- Ability to stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment
- Frequent bending, climbing, stooping, and hands-on inspection activity
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Exposure to noise, welding environments, and moving machinery

Hiring Salary Range: Depending on Experience
