About the role

This position is responsible for finished products including documentation of final inspections and testing before it is picked up by the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect finished products by confirming specifications on blueprints, conducting visual and/or measurement tests, and returning products for rework.
  • Inspect re-worked products in final assembly.
  • Perform accurate mechanical, physical, and visual inspection of raw material, components, and sub-assemblies used in final assembly.
  • Document and report inspection findings and results, and monitor corrective actions to inspection findings.
  • Initiate Non-Conformance reports (material rejection notices) as required.
  • Conduct various tests and quality checks on finished products ensuring the product has been tested and falls within standards.
  • Examine material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
  • Compare product with parts list to ensure completion of assembly.
  • Reject defective parts, and mark type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Perform other quality system processes at the direction of the Quality Director.
  • Assist with attaching parts to the final product.
  • Test assembled electrical components.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the manufacturing and/or service of pressure vessels or cargo tanks is a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator as needed.
  • Must be able to climb and be comfortable with heights (fall protection).

Skills

  • Proficiency with inspection tools including hand tools such as tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
