Summary

Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.

Essential Functions

  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Selects products for evaluation at specified stages in production process, and inspects products for qualities such as dimensions, cleanliness, paint quality, and appearance.
  • Records data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
  • Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis, on topics such as Part Production Approval Process (PPAPS), Control Plans, Gage Repeatability, and Process Capability Studies.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to dirty or oily conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Qualifications

Preferred Education & Experience: High School degree or equivalent.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: High level of proficiency using spreadsheet applications such as Excel, including the use of pivot tables.
