Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements to verify dimensional conformance
- Perform first-piece inspections for departments
- Conduct in-process and final inspections and accurately complete history cards and inspection documentation
- Perform floor audits and in-process inspections to ensure compliance with control plans and work instructions
- Set up and use special gaging and precision measurement equipment including micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and other inspection tools
- Prepare samples using cut-off saws and other equipment for testing purposes
- Perform hardness, tensile, and torque testing in accordance with applicable standards
- Conduct grain flow testing and mix required chemicals as part of metallurgical evaluation
- Perform raw material evaluations and verify compliance with specifications
- Complete PPAP documentation when assigned
- Administer disposition of nonconforming material and generate Repair Shop Orders as required
- Evaluate incoming material certifications (raw material, heat treat, plating) for compliance and maintain certification records in the ERP system
- Maintain quality documentation and records in the company ERP/business system
- Attend meetings as required to support quality initiatives
- Work with customers and suppliers when needed under direction of quality leadership
- Follow all Lean, Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of manufacturing quality inspection experience preferred
- Strong ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
- Experience using precision measuring instruments and special gaging
- Basic knowledge of PPAP and statistical tools preferred
- Basic computer proficiency and ERP experience preferred
