Quality Technician (2ND 3PM-11PM)

Primary responsibility for protecting food safety and quality through sampling, testing, and documentation to meet all regulatory, customer, and Pures Foods requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct food safety and quality sampling, testing, and documentation to comply with international, national, state, and local food regulations.
• Maintain safety, legality, and quality of food and manufacturing processes.
• Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
• Meet and exceed customer requirements and reduce customer/consumer complaints.
• Report food safety and quality issues to supervisors and hold product for non-conformance.
• Participate in daily food evaluations and weekly physical bakery inspections (pest control, operational methods, maintenance, sanitation, personnel practices).
• Select food items for analysis at specified production stages to evaluate compliance with specifications.
• Use instrumentation and measuring devices: thermometers, metal detectors, ray devices, calculators, scales, gauges, calipers, rulers, moisture analyzers, ovens.
• Ensure materials are received from approved suppliers and monitor raw material supplier performance.
• Participate in Environmental Monitoring Programs (collecting swab samples, using ATP system).
• Print finished food case labels as appropriate.
• Communicate food safety/QA issues with Production Supervisors and QA Technicians at shift change.
• Manage and execute changes to duties as assigned.
• Oversee Quality Technicians.
• Work different shifts and weekends.

Requirements

• High School Diploma; some college science courses or food industry experience preferred.
• Training in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points).
• Training in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF.
• Good writing, mathematics, and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in computers, including spreadsheets.
• Effective work ethic and communication skills.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Regularly climb, stand, or walk for extended periods.
• Use a computer keyboard and monitor more than 25% of total work time.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Frequently work near moving mechanical parts; occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and extreme cold.
• Moderate to loud noise levels in the work environment.

Pay

$19–$21 hourly wage.
