We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Technician to join our team on 2nd shifts. In this vital role, you will ensure our manufacturing processes and products meet the highest quality standards, maintaining compliance with industry regulations such as ISO 13485, FDA regulations, and ISO 9001 while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

About the role

The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician is responsible for protecting food safety and quality through sampling, testing, and documentation to meet all regulatory, customer, and company requirements. This role reports to the QA Manager and ensures compliance with food safety and quality best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct food safety and quality assurance procedures to ensure compliance with international, national, state, and local food regulations.
  • Perform sampling, testing, and documentation of procedures, records, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • Maintain the safety, legality, and quality of food products and manufacturing processes.
  • Meet and exceed customer requirements while working to reduce customer/consumer complaints.
  • Report food safety and quality issues to supervisors and hold product based on non-conformance.
  • Participate in daily food evaluations and weekly physical bakery inspections (pest control, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, sanitation, personnel practices, etc.).
  • Select food items for analysis at specified production stages to evaluate compliance with specifications.
  • Use instrumentation and measuring devices, including:
    • Thermometers
    • Metal detectors
    • X-ray devices
    • Calculators
    • Scales
    • Gauges
    • Calipers
    • Rulers
    • Moisture analyzers
    • Ovens
  • Ensure materials are received from approved suppliers and conduct raw material supplier performance monitoring.
  • Participate in Environmental Monitoring Programs (e.g., collecting swab samples, using the ATP system).
  • Print finished food case labels as appropriate.
  • Communicate food safety/QA issues with Production Supervisors and QA Technicians at shift change.
  • Manage and execute additional duties and changes as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma; some college science courses or food industry experience preferred.
  • Training in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points).
  • Training in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF.
  • Proficiency in writing, mathematics, and critical thinking.
  • Experience with computers, including spreadsheets.
  • Effective work ethic and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work different shifts and weekends.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to climb, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Use a computer keyboard and monitor more than 25% of total work time.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and extreme cold.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels.

Schedule

  • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday (weekends if needed; team provides rotation).
  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Monday to Friday (weekends if needed; team provides rotation).

Pay

$19.75/hr to $23.35.
