Quality Team Leader Overview

The Quality Team Leader is responsible for ensuring product quality compliance, managing blocked stock, leading non-conformance management efforts, and acting as a point of escalation for internal and external quality claims. The role focuses on Safety, Quality, and Productivity, with responsibilities in team leadership and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the resolution of blocked stock, ensuring thorough investigations, root cause analysis, and timely corrective actions to prevent recurrence of quality issues.

  • As the primary point of contact for all plant-level quality concerns with quality engineers and process development engineers.

  • Lead efforts in identifying, analyzing, and addressing non-conformance in production, including managing containment actions, and driving long-term corrective and preventive measures.

  • Collaborate with external and internal customers to resolve incoming material quality issues, support audits, and drive improvements in performance.

  • Oversee the Quality expectations during the launch of new products or dimensions, and product changes, ensuring full compliance with customer requirements and IATF 16949 standards.

  • Audit and Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements, including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements. Lead internal audits and coordinate responses to findings.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, improving inspection or other quality relevant criteria, and developing overall product quality. Lead the use of tools such as Six Sigma and root cause analysis to improve product quality.

  • Maintain and monitor quality KPIs.

  • Develop and drive Quality projects for new as well as existing business with the quality team.

  • Provide training and development for quality team members in best practices, new standards, and company policies related to quality.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and at least 2 years of related experience.

  • Prior leadership experience preferred.

  • Must be able to work extended hours as needed, esp. during audits.

  • Must be computer literate and able to work with Microsoft Office and other programs.

  • Must have good team work, and verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to evaluate complex data and draw conclusions.

  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in root cause analysis, Six Sigma, and statistical process control (SPC).

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, while making sound decisions.

  • ISO/TS 9001 and/or IATF 16949 knowledge helpful.

  • Knowledge and experience with design of experiment methods and software helpful.

  • Must be available and able to travel to other locations, including foreign travel.
