About the role

The Quality Systems Specialist supports Ilmor's Quality Manager in maintaining and continuously improving the company's Quality Management System (QMS).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continuously improve Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Administer quality system documentation, including procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and quality manuals.
  • Ensure document control processes are effective and compliant with ISO requirements.
  • Cover revisions, approvals, distribution, retention, and archival of controlled documents.
  • Support management review activities through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct internal quality audits.
  • Support external audits conducted by certification registrars, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Track audit findings and ensure timely implementation and closure of corrective actions.
  • Verify compliance with established procedures, quality standards, and business processes.
  • Conduct process audits throughout manufacturing and operational areas.
  • Develop, maintain, and report key quality performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Create dashboards and reports to communicate quality performance metrics throughout the organization.
  • Analyze trends related to nonconformances, customer issues, inspections, audits, corrective actions, and process performance.
  • Identify emerging quality risks and recommend proactive improvement actions.
  • Support management decision-making through accurate quality reporting and analysis.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, waste reduction, and process consistency.
  • Facilitate root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Drive corrective and preventive action activities and verify effectiveness of implemented solutions.
  • Support quality alerts, containment activities, and follow-up actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing quality processes and systems throughout the organization.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to improve process capability, product quality, and consistency.
  • Support engine build quality improvement initiatives through process evaluation, data analysis, and problem-solving activities.
  • Assist with incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities as needed.
  • Evaluate and improve inspection methods, workflows, and documentation practices.
  • Review quality records, inspection reports, and nonconformance documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support implementation of quality controls and best practices within production operations.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Operations, and Leadership teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Support supplier quality initiatives and quality-related customer concerns.
  • Facilitate quality awareness and training activities throughout the organization.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management principles and requirements.
  • Understanding of internal auditing methodologies and audit planning.
  • Knowledge of document control systems and quality record management.
  • Familiarity with inspection methods, measurement systems, and quality tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems, Sharepoint and other software tools.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing, and administrative departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, procedures, and drawings.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting a Quality Management System in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 standards, audits, and quality documentation.
  • Experience conducting or participating in internal audits.
  • Working knowledge of corrective action systems and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with Sharepoint, ERP (e.g. Epicor) systems, etc.
  • Strong computer and documentation management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification.
  • ASQ certifications such as Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
  • Experience in precision manufacturing, motorsports, marine, automotive, or aerospace industries.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality data analysis techniques.
