Job Description The Quality Supervisor leads the daily operations of the quality laboratory, providing hands-on guidance to quality lab staff while driving continuous improvement in product quality, waste reduction, and customer satisfaction. This role oversees quality systems, internal and external audits, and notification processes, ensuring that all quality programs run effectively and support both internal stakeholders and customers. Responsibilities Manage and provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to quality lab staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of all quality activities.Oversee and coordinate all daily operations within the quality laboratory, ensuring compliance with established quality procedures and standards.Conduct in-depth investigations and problem solving on internal and external quality issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.Lead and supervise waste and scrap reduction projects, ensuring measurable improvements in efficiency and cost savings.Initiate and manage cost savings projects, including the development of reports and presentations to support process improvements and cost justification initiatives.Assist in resolving internal and external quality issues that arise during production trials, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful outcomes.Support customer-driven initiatives by addressing customer requirements, quality concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.Participate in external audits, including customer and third-party audits (such as FSSC and IMS), by arranging audit schedules, coordinating training and preparation, and ensuring all findings are addressed and closed out.Participate in internal audits of the quality system and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including planning, training, preparation, issue resolution, and follow-up reporting.Administer and maintain internal, supplier, and customer notification systems, ensuring all information is accurate, current, and properly documented.Monitor and ensure that all notifications are addressed and closed out in a timely manner, escalating issues when necessary.Ensure accurate valuation and management of returned goods, including proper documentation, disposition, and communication with relevant stakeholders.Track material dispositions and follow up when dispositions are not completed within a reasonable timeframe to maintain flow and accountability.Participate in daily internal notification meetings, providing updates on quality issues, investigations, and corrective actions.Generate clear, data-driven reports and presentations to support quality initiatives, process improvements, and cost justification efforts.Collaborate closely with production staff, peers, and leadership to align quality objectives with overall plant goals and to influence best practices across the facility. Essential Skills Proven knowledge of quality concepts and principles, including quality assurance and quality control practices.Hands-on experience performing quality audits, including internal audits and participation in external audits such as customer and third-party assessments (e.g., FSSC, IMS).Experience handling customer complaints and translating feedback into corrective and preventive actions.Practical experience in quality engineering, quality inspection, and working with a quality management system.Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and their application in a production environment.Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain quality programs and requirements to employees at all levels of the plant.Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make quick, sound, and appropriate decisions in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead a team, including managing, coaching, and developing staff to enhance performance and skills.Strong customer service focus, with the ability to support customer-driven initiatives and maintain positive customer relationships.Proven ability to collaborate and influence peers, production staff, and leadership to achieve shared quality objectives.High level of energy, accountability, and execution in driving quality improvements and resolving issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in paper, laminates, or packaging industries is highly beneficial.Exposure to third-party certification schemes such as FSSC and IMS is an advantage.Ability to prepare and deliver clear reports and presentations for process improvement and cost justification.Demonstrated strength in organizing and administering notification systems for internal, supplier, and customer communications.Track record of leading waste and scrap reduction initiatives and cost savings projects.Strong teamwork mindset, with the ability to build trust, motivate others, and foster a collaborative environment.Comfort working with cross-functional teams during trials and process changes to ensure quality standards are maintained. Work Environment This role operates primarily in a quality laboratory environment within a manufacturing facility. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., supporting production and quality activities during core business hours. The Quality Supervisor works closely with production staff, peers, and leadership, participating in daily internal notification meetings and regular audits.
