About the role

The position will assist with and/or lead safety and quality root cause investigations, as well as analyze trending. The individual in this role will regularly interact with and train operators. He/She will act as a technical resource for operations for investigating and resolving any operational opportunities or audit exceptions. The position will assist with measuring device calibrations as well as assist and/or perform audits. The individual in this role will participate in cross-functional teams to define, evaluate and improve the quality management system. This position regularly interacts with all levels of operations including leadership. He/She will have regular contact with customers, regulatory agencies and other CGI departments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform, participate and/or lead root cause investigations; analyze trending of such investigations.
  • Aid in the development, continuous improvement and administration of operations' training.
  • Aid in the overall continuous improvement and administration of the quality management system.
  • Participate in external audits of customer and regulatory agencies, as needed.
  • Act as a liaison for customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform in-process and final quality control inspections of trucks and railcars.
  • Provide support to operations e.g. calibration of measuring devices, day-to-day operations, etc., as needed.
  • Wear proper PPE, regardless of weather conditions, as required by the product being handled.
  • Regularly climb stairs, ladders, work on top of and under tank trucks and railcars, use hand tools, etc.
  • Perform additional functions as directed by management.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; College Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Operations, 2 years loading hazmat railcars is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of CTI safety and quality procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of truck and tank car anatomy.
  • Ability to read, gauge and calibrate measuring devices.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to simplify or modify complex technical information as needed to communicate orally or in writing to non-technical staff or customers.
  • Ability to work well with others in a positive environment.
  • Ability to perform high level root cause analysis and investigation.
  • Ability to perform training on an individual or group basis.
  • Ability to build effective relationships.
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Possess excellent presentation skills.
  • Must have the physical capacity to climb stairs, ladders and tanks.
  • Must have tolerance for exposure to all weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind, and rain and off-shift work schedules.
  • Must be a demonstrated leader and have strong core values that align with those of the Organization.
