Key Responsibilities
- Develop quality inspection techniques and processes for new product lines by participating in the initial Quoting process with the Commercial team, studying product requirements, and researching, designing, modifying, and testing inspection techniques and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors when needed
- Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results
- Evaluate existing inspection and manufacturing processes and workflows to identify potential areas of improvement, process control, cost reduction, and efficiency
- Carry out process improvement, problem resolution, and project management, using 8D methodology and Lean tools such as Value-Stream Mapping
- Work with engineering team using past performance data to prevent future occurrences. Utilize tools such as DOE, DFM, FMEAs, GD&T, process capability, etc.
- Serve as the Material Review Board Lead to ensure timely and appropriate disposition of nonconforming product
- Create processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary goals as well as performance quotas
- Devise new solutions to existing inspection and manufacturing challenges
- Design, develop and test sources and cost-justify various gauging, tools, fixtures, and equipment for recommended inspection methods
- Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, safety, improved efficiency, and training opportunities
Requirements
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years of experience in a mechanical manufacturing or production environment, proven experience providing hands-on support on the shop floor, working directly with inspectors, operators and production teams, strong background in process improvement, troubleshooting, and problem-solving in a manufacturing environment, experience with lean manufacturing principles (Kaizen, 6S, line balancing, waste reduction, VSM and flow improvements), ability to analyze inspection and production issues and drive solutions through execution, experience supporting metal fabrication environments (CNC or sheet metal is a plus), expertise in gauge selection and inspection techniques using GD&T and current industry practices and technology, experienced working in regulated industries, such as Aerospace or Automotive, a plus, ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with operations, engineering, and leadership teams, strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
