Quality Manager II

Plan, organize, and implement the MasTec Industrial Quality Program during the execution of construction projects. Oversee the Quality on-boarding process, contribute to developing site-specific ITPs, manage the organization and turnover of all quality documentation required for progressive turnover, and supervise all discipline inspectors hired for the project. Perform site inspections as necessary.

Location & Travel

• Based anywhere in the U.S.
• Travel up to 90% of the time; project sites located throughout the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Participate in constructability reviews and task planning
• Handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments while managing deadlines
• Evaluate and implement directions from supervisors regarding quality and work practices
• Produce quality work meeting company policies, procedures, and industry standards
• Champion MasTec Industrial’s culture and values, promoting ethics and stewardship
• Represent MasTec Industrial professionally in all client interactions
• Provide contract-required reports (e.g., weekly, monthly, nonconformance)
• Implement MasTec Industrial’s Corporate Quality Manual and assist in developing site-specific quality plans
• Identify needs for Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and coordinate development with senior quality management
• Support or lead quality training, onboarding sessions, and meetings
• Support craft superintendents with site-specific quality consumables (e.g., electrodes, welding lenses)
• Lead and support quality practices, including audits, craft observations, and Quality Leadership Team Meetings (QLTs)
• Ensure weekly compilation and submission of quality metrics (e.g., repair rates, nonconformance metrics, testing metrics)
• Participate in stretch/flex and morning gang box meetings
• Report nonconforming and rework events; participate in incident investigations and corrective actions
• Ensure subcontractor kickoff meetings are held to discuss quality requirements and inspection activities
• Track timely closure of non-conformances and observations
• Promote stop-work authority for quality-related events
• Function as a key project leader on-site
• Conduct and lead internal and external meetings professionally
• Provide on-the-job training to quality managers, inspectors, and operations personnel
• Ensure implementation of project employee training programs
• Manage direct reports, including quality inspectors, administrative personnel, and site survey teams
• Review and staff site quality personnel
• Develop and mentor site personnel to promote internal career growth
• Foster culture and retention of quality teams
• Lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders
• Work with organizational leaders toward continuous improvement goals

Requirements

• Minimum of seven years of quality experience in construction or operations with exposure to civil, electrical, mechanical, pipeline/oil/gas, industrial, and welding activities
• Extensive knowledge and proficiency in interpreting codes: ASME (B31.1, B31.3, Section I, V, VIII Div. 1, IX), AWS (D1.1, D1.3, D1.6), AISC, ASNT, NEC, NFPA, NBIC, and ACI regulations
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required; alternate certifications may be considered
• Ability to work with Project Quality Sponsors to execute code work using MasTec’s ASME Code Stamps (e.g., “S, U, R, NB”) within code boundaries and AIA-HSBCT
• Proven experience leading projects and teams in an industrial setting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, PowerPoint)
• Experience with construction management software platforms
• Proven capabilities with Bluebeam Revu
• Preferred experience with Smartsheet and InEight software

Skills

• Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and document quality-related issues
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, and the public
• Develop positive working relationships with owners, representatives, and site supervision to facilitate quality objectives
• Work independently, ensuring resources are adequate and properly trained
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative
• Apply critical thinking to establish effective corrective actions for quality incidents

Physical Demands

• Work up to 12-hour shifts in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions
• Maintain physical strength and stamina; use arms, hands, and legs fully

Pay

Competitive pay range: $110,000 – $150,000 with ongoing performance reviews and merit increases.
