Quality Manager

About the role

Sika is a worldwide innovation and sustainability leader in the development and production of systems and products for commercial and residential construction, as well as the transportation, marine, automotive, and renewable energy manufacturing industries. The Quality Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and control of quality-related initiatives including ISO9001 & IATF16949, as well as other Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. In cooperation with site management, this role ensures quality assurance and control functions across all product divisions and implements proactive quality management systems to position Sika Marion Operations as a leader in process and product quality.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in and lead the plant’s Sika SAFE Program, maintaining a safe and clean work environment in accordance with Sika Housekeeping policy.
• Display active leadership in advancing the Sika SAFE culture, pursuing zero injuries and employee engagement.
• Attain annual safety goals through understanding, conveying, and coaching safety rules and procedures.
• Ensure implementation and evolution of safety guidelines, participate in safety meetings, training, and accident investigations.
• Coordinate all quality-related and customer satisfaction programs to meet corporate objectives.
• Oversee QMS procedures, including initialization and optimization, and monitor ISO9001 and IATF16949 performance using statistical tools.
• Design, implement, and maintain the Quality Policy program, establishing goals and objectives.
• Establish certification schedules, including internal and external audits and documentation reviews.
• Promote a continuous improvement culture through personal action and attitude.
• Manage the Marion Quality Department, creating a challenging and motivating environment.
• Provide technical assistance to site management for new or revised quality control procedures.
• Report compliance status, action items, problems, and opportunities to executive management.
• Monitor and report quality performance KPIs with the Marion Leadership Team.
• Establish and meet local budgets and operational goals through balanced scorecards.
• Support capital budgeting, plan implementation, and strategy for the Quality department.
• Assure FERT release and inspection plan setup in SAP; assist in introducing new materials, packaging, products, and processes.
• Support new product and raw-material launches, scale-up, validation, and optimization in compliance with the PCP process.
• Provide corrective and preventive techniques to improve manufacturing processes regarding quality, throughput, waste, and energy efficiency.
• Troubleshoot quality problems, establish root cause analysis, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Initiate state-of-the-art procedures and methods where appropriate.
• Support the national customer complaint process to meet customer needs.
• Determine and improve process capabilities using statistical quality techniques to meet or exceed customer needs.
• Familiarity with automotive manufacturer quality requirements; facilitate or coordinate training in continuous improvement activities.
• Develop processes ensuring shipment of products meeting customer specifications.
• Execute additional projects or activities as directed by the Director of Quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience as a Quality Manager in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
