Quality Manager
About the role
Our client, a family-owned company specializing in precision metal stampings, is seeking a Quality Control Manager. This role involves managing internal processes, resolving quality issues, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Review specifications for products or processes
- Manage monitoring, measurement, and review of internal processes affecting product quality
- Handle and resolve product and service quality issues with customers and suppliers
- Manage process and product audits, testing, and inspections
- Oversee inspection of incoming materials to ensure compliance with requirements
- Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis
- Develop and improve procedures and processes
- Supervise QC department staff and provide guidance and feedback
- Supervise inspections, reports, and documents issued by inspectors, and collect and file quality records
- Ensure accurate and timely inspection and calibration of monitoring and measuring devices
- Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and news related to product and service quality
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Recommend ways to improve manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality products
- Support and participate in external and internal audits
- Perform internal audits, prepare reports, and recommend process improvements
- Ensure adherence to health and safety policies and legal obligations
- Initiate supplier nonconformance (NC) reports, manage them to timely closure, monitor and evaluate supplier performance, implement corrective actions as needed, and collaborate with suppliers to improve product and service quality
- Follow safety regulations and keep equipment in proper working condition to prevent hazards and protect employees
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent technical discipline
- Minimum of 15 years of QA/QC experience, including at least 5 years in the metal stamping industry; ASQ certification is a plus
- Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, developing and reviewing project quality plans, and purchase order or contract documents
- Proven ability to lead a QC staff
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word; project management experience is a plus
- Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels
- Excellent math skills and working knowledge of data analysis and statistical methods
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and supervisory skills
- Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing preferred
Qualifications
The successful applicant must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent technical discipline and at least 15 years of QA/QC experience, including at least 5 years in the metal stamping industry. ASQ certification is a plus. Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, developing and reviewing project quality plans, and purchase order or contract documents is required. Proven leadership skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities are necessary, along with strong organizational and analytical skills.
