About the Role

The Quality Manager develops, implements, and maintains technical quality assurance and control systems and activities. This role defines and specifies standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating product precision, accuracy, and reliability. The Quality Manager participates in new product reviews, assists product support areas in data analysis, selects and evaluates personnel, and works with suppliers to meet and exceed customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and set quality goals and metrics using industry best practices with input from upper management.
  • Assist with the development of business metrics and establish plans to meet quality goals, including facilitating cross-functional teams.
  • Lead the investigation of customer complaints, driving root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Ensure company compliance with ISO 9001, TL 9000, and support compliance with ISO 14001 Standards.
  • Lead, supervise, and implement systems for evaluating finished products to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Participate in product recertification per industry or customer requirements.
  • Champion Lean and Continuous Improvement projects and strategy.
  • Supervise Quality Engineering and Lead Auditor teams.
  • Manage, communicate with, and report issues to suppliers and contract manufacturers to meet customer and company requirements.
  • Administer the new product introduction process for NWS and Fusion Splicing business units.
  • Manage and facilitate Fusion Splicing quality metrics.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Lightera Global Quality Leader.
  • Assign and set priorities for projects and assignments.
  • Make disposition decisions for finished goods and raw materials that do not meet standard requirements.
  • Make employment decisions concerning hiring staff and determine training needs for employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  • MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience managing budgetary responsibilities of a Quality department.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (or equivalent) required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
