Quality Manager

About the role

As Quality Manager of the Stuart/Port St Lucie team, you will champion, support, and lead quality and continuous improvement initiatives. You will ensure that all managers, process owners, and supervisors develop and maintain their part of the quality management system, accurately identify customer requirements, and meet or exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Promote quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.
• Lead and organize formal/informal problem solving in areas of scrap, process capability, warranty, etc.
• Develop and measure quality goals and targets in the organization’s strategic plan.
• Establish and implement metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and enabling sound product quality decisions.
• Assess product specifications and customer requirements.
• Ensure compliance with national and international standards.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing to formulate and agree on comprehensive quality procedures.
• Liaise with other managers and staff, particularly in design, production, and purchasing.
• Work closely with purchasing employees to establish supplier quality performance criteria and monitor supplier performance.
• Assess suppliers' product specifications and quality plans.
• Define processes and procedures in conjunction with operating employees.
• Supervise internal auditing and continual improvement to products or services.
• Work methodically to establish a clearly defined quality management system.
• Lead and coach technical employees in carrying out tests/checks in a laboratory environment, ensuring proper understanding, execution, evaluation, and investigation of product modifications.
• Act as key contact with customers' auditors and ensure execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications.
• Write technical and management system reports that predict trends affecting quality improvement.
• Pinpoint relevant quality-related training needs.
• Consider application of environmental and health and safety standards.
• Complete additional job duties and assignments.

Requirements

• Engineering Degree with a focus in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing disciplines; related Technology diplomas/certificates.
• Five (5) years minimum related experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment, with a minimum three (3) years supervisory experience.
• Experience leading or working within an ISO 9001 Quality Management environment.
• Quality Management or Quality Engineering certifications are desirable.
• Strong proficiency with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to learn other applications quickly.
• Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.

This position reports to the General Manager and will work in Stuart/Port St Lucie, Florida.
