Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Quality Assurance team and manage all quality-related departmental activities
  • Manage and maintain quality systems, ensuring adherence to QA policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the SQF system across the organization
  • Lead SQF training initiatives and ensure all departments are trained and compliant with food safety standards
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for pest control and chemical service providers
  • Conduct and manage internal audits; prepare for and lead customer and regulatory audits
  • Address and manage significant quality holds that may result in product loss, including investigation, documentation, and corrective actions
  • Write, review, and maintain quality policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Initiate purchase requisitions related to quality, food safety, and compliance needs
  • Communicate non-routine quality-related costs and risks to leadership
  • Implement discipline and corrective actions for Quality Assurance team members in alignment with company policies
  • Collaborate with the Director on Quality Assurance compensation planning and departmental strategy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Previous experience in a quality management role within food or pet food manufacturing
  • Strong working knowledge of SQF and food safety regulations
  • Experience leading audits and managing cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
