About the Role

The Quality Laboratory Technician supports laboratory testing to ensure the Lafayette manufacturing process operates efficiently and meets quality standards.

Arconic Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) serves the global aerospace and automotive markets with specialized engineering, high-quality forgings, and extrusions. Our vertically integrated capabilities and deep materials science expertise in aluminum and titanium structural casting drive industry innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Support control and developmental activities for the Production and Metallurgical departments.
  • Provide accurate, efficient, and quality-conscious test results.
  • Solve problems and interpret customer specifications and procedures.
  • Maintain and control measurement assurance manuals and processes for physical-testing procedures.
  • Train other laboratory technicians on test equipment and procedures.
  • Perform sawing, machining, testing, and chemical analysis.
  • Monitor and maintain control charts critical to sustaining AS9100 and Nadcap certification.
  • Uphold laboratory cleanliness and safety requirements.
  • Work self-sufficiently in a fast-paced environment to achieve departmental and plant goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • 2-5 years of manufacturing experience or experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience solving problems and understanding customer specifications and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to review and interpret data.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility required at hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Must meet ITAR requirements: U.S. person status (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of manufacturing or laboratory experience.
  • Experience writing, maintaining, and controlling measurement assurance manuals and processes.
  • Experience training laboratory technicians on test equipment and procedures.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and maintaining control charts for AS9100 and Nadcap certification.
  • Understanding of laboratory cleanliness and safety requirements.

Lafayette Operations in Lafayette, IN, is located approximately 60 miles from Indianapolis and is home to Purdue University. The facility has operated continuously since 1938 and specializes in aluminum extrusions for aerospace, automotive, industrial, and defense markets.
