About the Role
To support the Analytical Chemist and Chemist in sample preparation for analysis. Assist with standard-making and instrumentation.
- Safe operation of the Analytical Lab and improvement of the plant safety culture
- Timely, accurate, and precise chemical analysis
Responsibilities
- Conduct chemical or physical laboratory tests to assist chemist in making qualitative or quantitative analyses of materials.
- Maintain, clean, or sterilize laboratory instruments or equipment.
- Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses, using techniques such as grinding, cleaning of glasswork, and sample preparation.
- Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
- Prepare chemical solutions for products or processes, following standardized formulas, or create experimental formulas.
- Evaluate information to determine compliance with standards — using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Document and record information.
- Communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates — providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Associate’s Degree (Preferred)
- 1-3 years’ experience working in a lab environment
Qualifications
- Chemistry — Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
- Mathematics — Knowledge of basic arithmetic.

- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
