About the role

We are seeking a Night Shift Quality Inspector to perform inspection functions of assembled parts. Inspectors validate processes and provide documentation to ensure compliance with the Sonaca North America Quality System, under close supervision. The role involves interpreting customer instructions, blueprints, and statistical information, preparing parts and documentation for external criteria, and participating in problem-solving teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist production personnel in establishing and documenting inspection criteria.
  • Prepare parts and documentation to meet outside criteria.
  • Complete all required inspection documentation and communicate with customers as needed.
  • Enter data into the Work Order Tracking System, including notes and recording data on the work order.
  • Document Nonconforming Material per the Quality System Requirements.
  • Assist in identifying parts deficiencies and help prevent further recurrences.
  • Determine whether the product is acceptable or unacceptable according to work order and customer requirements.
  • Exercise “stop the job” authority at any stage of the process.
  • Perform sampling inspection and adhesion testing requirements.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in inspection areas.
  • Handle customer-supplied product with care.
  • Properly use calibrated thickness masters, shims, certified master materials samples, etc.
  • Verify jobs by matching actual parts with the work order, part number(s), printed/electronic pictures, and part count.
  • Maintain Sonaca North America’s quality standards to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Access all applicable Prime customer specification requirements on the SharePoint site.
  • Manage time effectively to meet production, quality, and delivery schedules.
  • Interact professionally with co-workers and vendors, maintaining good relations.
  • Follow all safety requirements and enforce compliance.
  • Work overtime, including weekends, on short notice when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Inspection Lead.
  • Respond quickly to inquiries and follow up as needed.
  • Embrace change to ensure overall company success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred; candidates without this may be required to take a pre-employment assessment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend American English.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand customer drawings, mylars, and sketches.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of internal procedures and customer requirements.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of processes in the chemical processing area.
  • Exhibit good communication skills when dealing with inspection personnel, operators, and customer service representatives.
  • Be flexible and self-driven.
  • Become proficient in using the Work Order Tracking Program and the Quality System on the SharePoint site.
  • Exhibit professionalism when dealing with subordinates and superiors.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to noise levels ranging from quiet to extremely loud.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the manufacturing floor, including eye, ear, and foot protection.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-50 pounds.
