Quality Inspector (Manufacturing)
About the role
The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring product meets or exceeds all applicable quality standards. They conduct inspections of incoming products, in-process assemblies/subassemblies, manufacturing workmanship, and finished good materials. They assist in developing standard work instructions, process procedures, and inspection plans. They understand and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to evaluate product quality compliance and provide reports as required. They perform inspections using various inspection instruments and collaborate with all departments to ensure effective information and data transfer to meet customer needs and organizational objectives. They ensure compliance with the Total Quality and Environmental Management Systems by participating in continuous improvements, process audits, and problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspection of incoming materials for workmanship, conformance to established inspection plans and drawings.
- Aid in developing standard work instructions, process procedures, and inspection plans.
- Understand and interpret GD&T to evaluate product quality compliance and provide reports as required.
- Perform inspection utilizing various inspection instruments.
- Collaborate with all departments to ensure information and data transfers effectively to meet customer needs and organizational objectives.
- Ensure compliance of the Total Quality and Environmental Management Systems by participating in continuous improvements, process audits, and problem-solving.
Requirements
- Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of quality and lean manufacturing principles preferred. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and read blueprints. In-depth understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), IPC 610, and interpretation of Quality standards. Self-motivated individuals with strong written and verbal communication skills, strong aptitude in process improvement and problem-solving skills, excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Education & Experience: Minimum of 2 years of inspection experience preferred in a manufacturing or similar industry. Experience with inspection instructions such as micrometers, calipers, torque wrenches, and multi-meter. High School diploma; technical associate's degree preferred. ASQ Quality Inspector certification is a plus.
