About the Role

The Quality Inspector II performs advanced inspections on incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and customer specifications. This role requires a keen eye for detail and collaboration with production teams to maintain product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct basic visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of raw materials, components, and finished products.
  • Perform difficult product inspections involving very close tolerances, including precision parts and assemblies, using precision measuring instruments and equipment.
  • Conduct first piece, in-process, and final inspections for quality and appearance in accordance with customer/company specifications.
  • Use equipment such as comparators, toolmaker microscopes, and contour readers following standard procedures.
  • Check drawings, prints, and specifications for dimensional requirements and determine acceptance or rejection of items.
  • Notify shop supervisor and own supervisor of failures to meet customer specifications.
  • Prepare inspection papers, accept/reject tags, and fill out shipping papers for each order.
  • Follow guidelines for sample or full inspection of products and notify supervisor of problems.
  • Maintain necessary records and move materials as required.
  • Keep work area and equipment clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Adhere to established company rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Perform other related duties as required or directed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of quality inspector experience.

Skills

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to use mathematics alongside complicated drawings, specifications, and precision instruments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.

Work Environment

The work environment may require frequent walking; use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; and talking or hearing. The role may also require sitting; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Occasional lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds may be necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
